Collaboration and Reflection
Use Equity Maps to figure out which students participate in class discussions, how often, and for how long. This app is great for classrooms, meetings and collaborative learning spaces.
I find Equity Maps to be eye-opening. It offers excellent support for targeted instruction, giving you an insight into speaking and listening equally to your class or school.
- Begin with a seating chart.
- Tap each student’s icon as they talk to record data.
- The app keeps track of each student’s contribution (by time), giving you an excellent summary at the end. This includes a breakdown by gender.
- Strengths: Visual and audible data makes reflection real and exciting.
- Downsides: Bigger the class, more significant the task for the teacher; more students mean more tapping and clicking
